The teaching inteview
I received my letter just a week ago and didnt had much time to tell everyone that i'll be going for it. Anyway the interview was held just now and it went to me quite good, i manage to be calm and answer the question to my outmost capability. In comparison to the same interview i attended three years back i think i did better and i was smiling when i exit the interview room, hope all is well. Keep up ur prayers for me dear family and friends ;D and i hope to get my reults within two weeks and a good one ya.
I know how anxious it can be to attend an interview, therefore i will post here the questions that i can re-call on what the inteviewer ask me.They are:
1) Which secondary school did you come from? How about primary school?
2) Why teaching?[This is a definite must-ask qs, so do prepare]
3) How is Interior Design related to Teaching?[for poly graduates]
4) Would you consider applying for AM(Administrative Manager) position in schools?[They ask this because an AM will have to think more about Interior Design and stuff]
5) Have you attend any of our teaching talks?
6) Which talks did you attend this year?
7) Tell us more about the course of study you'll be undertaking?
8) Did you apply for any other undergraduate programs?[I applied for NUS Arts and Social Sciences]
9) What would you like to read at NUS?
10) If you are offered a place in NUS and NIE, will you still want to take up teaching?
11) Tell us one quality of yours which will make you a good teacher?
12) Do you know how long is your bond?
13) Are you willing to commit up to 8 years (4yrs hounours program and 4 yrs bond)?It's a long time you know?
14) What if you realise that during the course you have a change of heart?
15) The bond is quite substantial amount are you aware? [ans for Bachelor Course is $90000]
16) What subjects would you like to teach?
17) Would you prefer to teach in Primary School or Secondary School? Why?
18) Do you know that you can actually read Malay Language and Literature?[this qs is because of my grade that i earn during o's qualify me to teach the above]
19) You mention you have a passion for teaching, give us an example.
20) Teaching tuition is only to one student but what if you have to face a class of 30 students?
Alright and then it ends there with me thanking them and left the room with a smile =D.
Ok for those of you who are going for the MOE Teaching Interview, i will leave you with a quote "Self-confidence is the key to success, and preparation is they key to self-confidence".Keep you answers short and sweet,about three sentences is fine and do not stray away from the subject.
Do prepare early and practice with a friend and/or your mother. Please dress up, wear formal, you are applying for a teaching post not a bar hostess postion.
Some applicants before me have the cheek to turn-up in spag strap and jeans, and the other shirt and short skirt. Girls it's alright to wear skirt but ensure that it's at least knee length, natural make-up dont over do it. Guys wear shirt, long-sleeve preferable, pants and black shoes.
I'm still waiting for my reults and realie hope i can get it, this is what i really2 want to do. So dua for me still and i will for you too.
nota: Bagi para pelajar Melayu/Islam yang ingin mendapatkan tempat, nasihat saya selain daripada persiapan awal, haruslah sentiasa berdoa kepada Allah dan juga minta restu ibu bapa. Kalau masih ada nenek atau atok, suruh mereka doakan juga kerana doa orang tua 'lebih power'.
