Tokyo Trip 2009 - Day 2

Continental breakfast provided by Frasers Place was how we started our day, the usual cereals, bread and jam/butter, coffee and tea and internet! Finally found the location for the free internet access. Access from our room is chargeable and we only need to do the very basic of check e-mail FB and others so it was convenient, and every breakfast thereafter was spent at the computer station.

Today’s plan was to go Shibuya, Harajuku and the Tokyo Camii Mosque. We had some trouble looking for the mosque and practically all road sign/maps were in Japanese, though some people are helpful most still can’t speak English and was not able to answer to our queries. The final resort was to go to the police booth and ask the officers.

Shibuya and Harajuku are shopping haven not much of sightseeing but lots of shop, be prepare to burn a hole in your pocket, but no worries we didn’t visit most of the shops only spend about 30 minutes in this super cool, 4 storey Adidas store. Some of their design cant even be found in Singapore, and price wise is reasonable for the Adidas products, mum got herself a pair of sneakers and long-sleeve t-shirt.

We then took a 30 minute walk to Harajuku before getting on the Odakyu line to get to Yoyogi Uehara where the Tokyo Camii Mosque is. Along the way while walking around to find the mosque we met two cats, and one of them turn out pretty friendly, my mum when to give her a pat and stroke her till she refuse to get off her lap, well we still had to leave the cat behind in the end. Did our prayers there and got a free cup of tea to warm ourselves, beautiful mosque with marble facade and flooring. Love the multiple khat decorations and styles that was present in that one mosque, amazing!

Shinjuku was our last stop for the day. Using the google map printed off the net, we navigate ourselves to find Kebab Ye, a small eatery to have our very late lunch. It cost almost 40 just for lunch, Tokyo is really expensive, wonder if i’ll be able to survive if i had to stay here.

This time around we skip the whole in and out of train stations and took a walk back home, roughly about another 20 minutes of walking, we really use our feet well today. Upon reaching Frasers we hit the supermarket to get supplies for dinner and tomorrow lunch. Guess where will be heading to next...................the place where Mickey and Minnie lives =)
